TRANSPHOBIC HATE CRIME IS UNACCEPTABLE
Any incident which is perceived to have been committed against any person or property on the grounds of gender identity is a HATE CRIME.
Transphobic incidents can take many forms, for example, physical or sexual assaults, damage to your home or other property, verbal abuse or hate mail. It can originate from anyone;
- Your partner, who may verbally, physically, or sexually abuse you
- Family members who may be verbally or physically abusive
- Anyone else, strangers in the street, neighbours, workers in the health care system, shop assistants, civil servants, anyone providing goods and services.
Being subjected to transphobia directly affects your mental health, your property, your belongings, your family and your safety. You do not have to put up with this.
