Maeve McLaughlin MLA and Focus: The Identity Trust are delighted to announce our event in the Long Gallery, Parliament Buildings, Stormont as part of the NI Human Rights Festival 2014.

“Transgender rights are human rights”

Hosted by Maeve McLaughlin MLA, Chair of the Health Committee and FOCUS: the Identity Trust, our event focuses initially on gender recognition legislation in the UK and the Republic of Ireland but will also examine all areas of the lives of transgender and intersex individuals where they experience difficulty in accessing and enjoying the same basic human rights as the rest of society.
Keynote Speakers
We are delighted to confirm our keynote speakers are Alexander Carlile, The Lord Carlile of Berriew QC CBE and Mr Aengus O’Snodaigh TD, both of whom proposed the first ever gender recognition bills in their own jurisdictions.
